Design Review

It's a collaborative process

Design review is a collaborative process between a resident and the Delta Coves Design Review Committee. Although a planned modification may be congruent with Delta Coves’ design standards, residents must always obtain approval from the Design Review Committee prior to beginning a modification project.

The Design Review Committee meets weekly to expedite processing of requests, however they have 45 days from the date an application is submitted to return a decision to the homeowner. It’s recommended that residents wait to schedule vendors until after they receive written approval for their modification.

Before you submit your application

  1. Review the residential design guidelines first. Reviewing the guidelines will give you a more realistic expectations when working with your vendor. Even if your modification meets the guidelines, you still need review and approval before you begin any work. Then contact Delta Coves Community Life if you still have questions.
  2. Plan a realistic timeline. The Design Review Committee typically meets weekly and has 45 days from the date a complicted application is submitted to review and provide a written response to the homeowner. Complete, clear, and thorough applications can be returned much sooner.
  3. Review the checklist. Design review checklists provide a great starting off point for gathering the necessary information before starting your application.
  4. Don’t assume it will be approved. Even if your modification meets the guidelines, you’ll still need approval before you begin any work. You may have noticed your neighbor made an exterior modification, but that doesn’t mean it was approved nor that it will work for your home.
  5. Wait for the green light. It’s much easier to go through the design review process before you make a modification than to have to remove the modification at your own expense.
