As the year comes to a close, take a look back through some top moments of 2024. It was a busy year with regular events like Coffee and Doughnuts or S’mores to annual traditions like the Pirate Picnic or Holiday Boat Parade. While we couldn’t include every event, we compiled a few of our — and hopefully your — favorites.
10. Playground opening
Island Camp added another amenity with a playground for your little islanders — opening for fun in April 2024. The fenced in amenity provides a fun place for kids to laugh, run, and explore under their parents’ watchful gaze.
9. Walking path finallized
The walking path doubled in size in 2024 — reaching from one end of the neighborhood to the other. At it’s final length, the walking path provides 3 miles of landscape adorned trails with a midway stop at Anchor Bend Park.
8. Spring fling
Residents flocked to Island Camp for a hopping good time. Kids ran around hunting eggs, families met Mr. Hops — our resident bunny. This spring tradition is always one to remember.
7. Spooktacular Skelebration
Ghosts, ghouls, goblins, and well-dressed residents of all sizes filled Island Camp for a gourd time this fall. Pumpkins were painted, costumes judged, and candy handed out in carefully crafted car displays. Check out your favorite moments.
6. Fishing derby
For three years, neighbors have flocked to the lagoon to fish — by boat or dockside — for the largest catch. In 2024, the added youth division allowed us to announce two winners — Gabe for the Grownup Division and Toby for the Youth Division. Flash back through the photos and get ready to ‘reel ’em in’ in 2025.
5. Resident potlucks
Neighbors gathered to share their favorite dishes and a good time with (almost) monthly potlucks. Every month offered a different theme or celebration — including Santa and music by Delta Heat Band. A big thanks goes out to the potluck crew for their time and effort spent putting these together.
4. Club growth
Over the past year, residents launched several new clubs — nearly doubling the number of club groups — including crafting, golfing, and yoga. Check out the full club list and find a group – or start your own.
3. Jingle Jog & Grog
The weather may have been rainy but neighbors still showed up with festive spirits to run the Jingle Jog & Grog. This year brought around an — approximately — 5K and 10K offering plus a philanthropic component.
Participants brought new coats and toys to donate along with $900 raised from registration fees — all benefiting Bethel Island Children’s Support. Flip through photos to catch the holiday cheer.
2. Summer Sendoff Concert
To say goodbye to the summer boating season, neighbors and Islanders gathered boats in the lagoon to enjoy the music stylings of Delta Heat Band — a local music group — for a party on the docks.
1. Duffy Days boat race
Duffy Days — our season opener — culminates with the annual cardboard boat race. Residents craft all manner of water-faring devices for a race off the Island Camp dock and back. Will they sink or swim? Only time in the water will tell.
